AOTC Fun: Immerse Yourself

Posted by DevanJedi in Films, Prequels on April 28th, 2002

To supplement HolonetNews.com LFL has launched an extensive online fun and funny web of web sites to keep us going till the release of Episode II.

Each web site has the latest trailer, downloads (wallpaper, icons) and a strange flier- each site having its own exclusive content. Each site has a unique Warhol-like feel to it and clicking on the “Attack of the Clones” logo leads you to the next web site in the maze.

Start at the Purple Lightsaber and make a full circle back. Come back tomorrow for the full list of web sites in the ‘web’. Till then, I’ll let you find them all on your own.

Fan Film Awards

Posted by DevanJedi in Fandom on April 24th, 2002

This time at the celebration, they are going to showcase fan films; great, they finally recognize the art form for what it is. And you can vote to decide which one wins.

There are two I particularly liked; one is T’bone’s ‘Silent but Deadly’ and the other is the Fight Club spoof, ‘Figure Club’. You can check them all out here. There are a lot of other cool ones as well. Enjoy!

Post Midnight Madness Mumblings

Posted by DevanJedi in Collecting, Films, Prequels on April 24th, 2002

So what did you buy today?

I am proud/ashamed to say I spent about $150 offline and another $40 online in toys, books and music. 6 action figures, 4 deluxe action figures, one 12”, one speeder, one novelization and one soundtrack later; am I disappointed?

No; I loved it. I love the lack of hype. I love being able to get my hands on everything I WANT without fighting over it. And I like people underestimating the power of Episode II this time around.

Besides that, I picked up my Star Wars Lucky Charms last week; I passed on the Lays and Ruffles- I just can’t see myself eating the whole pack.

Ok, I’m just rambling- hope you enjoyed your April 23rd. Now looking forward to the Celebration and Spiderman on the 3rd and then the real thing on the 16th.

Does it get any better than this?

Episode II Spy Alert

Posted by DevanJedi in Films, Prequels on April 19th, 2002

View this excellent image of a fighting Anakin from the new AOTC Trading Cards. Warning: this is a great SPOILER!

If you want to read some speculations, here it is (SPOILER ALERT):
Apparently Anakin loses his arm in this battle, and not – according to the Expanded Universe novel Splinter of the Mind’s Eye – in a battle with Luke and Leia between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. Yet another proof that Lucas writes his own story without caring for the stories of the other authors.

John Williams on Remake Trilogy Music

Posted by DevanJedi in Films, Classic Trilogy, Films, Prequels on April 18th, 2002

Composer John Williams was interviewed by one of the two Star Wars fan clubs in the Netherlands. He talked about remaking the Trilogy films and inserting Imperial March in Episode IV. These are his words:

“I am thrilled to have the chance to go back to something I composed in 1977 and be able to make the entire saga continuous theme-wise.” John Williams tells us. “Notably abscent in the first movie is the Imperial March. Being able to insert that theme in the first movie will create a much stronger emotional flow throughout the Saga. After the release of Episode III George will enhance the original trilogy with additional scenes and special effects, adding my adjustments to the score this will seamlesly branch the entire Star Wars Saga into one massive romantic space opera. I think something of this magnitude has never been done before.”
