Medium Transport

Full name: Gallofree Yards Medium Transport
Size: 90 meters long
Speed: 20 MGLT in space / 650 kilometers per hour in atmosphere
Hyperdrive: class 4
Weapons: 4 twin laser cannons
Shields: deflector shield / hull

The Medium Transport was the first real Rebel Transport that was used. Before that time, the Alliance took everything to transport troops and supplies, from pirate vessels to stolen Imperial ships. The Gallofree Transport was the first transport that was sold to the Alliance in a great discount. Although the ships had almost no weapons and were no match for any Imperial Cruiser, they were excellent to convey troops and personnel, due to their high capability. The Medium Transport has four twin laser cannons and heavy shields to defend itself, but it still doesn't have a chance in a battle and always has to be escorted by starfighters or other capital ships. The Transport has a strong sensor to avoid any Imperial contact, and also a class 4 hyperdrive to escape in time. Of course the Medium Transport has a great capacity; it can carry 19000 metric tons of cargo and 90 passengers. The ships are used for transporting anything: troops, personnel, medicine, food, weapons, ammunition, artillery and other supplies needed at Rebel strongholds. They can even carry a limited amount of fuel to allow heavy starships to reload their tanks. Many Rebel Transports were used during the Imperial assault on Hoth. All the crew and supplies had to be evacuated from Echo Base in the transports. The last ship to leave was the legendary Bright Hope, which carried the last Rebel personnel and was supposed to take Han Solo and Princess Leia with it.

Victory Star Destroyer

Full name: Walex Blissex Victory-class Star Destroyer
Size: 900 meters long
Speed: unknown
Hyperdrive: class unknown
Weapons: 10 quad turbolasers / 40 double turbolasers / 80 concussion missile launchers / 10 tractor beam projectors
Shields: unknown / hull

The Victory-class Star Destroyer was considered the ultimate starship when built shortly after the Clone Wars. It was able to run out the old Dreadnaughts in all ways. It became the backbone of the Republic starfleet and served many years as the most outstanding warship ever. They were especially built for three duties: planetary defense, planetary assault and ground-troop support, and ship-to-ship combat. The capabilities of the Victory destroyer were excellent, due to its size. It could carry 24 starfighters, 2000 ground troops, planetary drop-ships, troop-transports, and many ground vehicles, such as AT-PT's and juggernauts. When the New Order began to spread around the galaxy, Kuat Drive Yards designed the Imperial-class Star Destroyer. Although its form and size was very much like the Victory destroyer, it was much better in combat and replaced the old warship. In the days of the Empire Victory destroyers were used only by the Imperial Forces, for transporting troops and supplies and to defend planets. Years later, when Grand Admiral Thrawn fought against the New Republic, he upgraded some old Victory destroyers for his coup. He fought major battles with the old starships, and he gave the ships the respect they deserved.

Interdictor Cruiser

Full name: Immobilizer 418 Cruiser
Size: 600 meters long
Speed: unknown
Hyperdrive: class unknown
Weapons: 20 quad laser cannons / four gravity well projectors
Shields: unknown / hull

The Interdictor Cruiser is probably the worst starship you can meet in a battle. The ships look like small Star Destroyers, but they are recognizable by four globes located on the outside of the ship. Interdictor Cruisers are built following the design of a standard heavy cruiser, but they are light-armed and not used for combat. The four globes on the cruiser's deck are gravity-well projectors, a technical wonder that makes hyperspace-traveling impossible. When an Interdictor Cruiser aimes one of his projectors on an escaping ship, the starship is unable to make the jump to lightspeed. Also, if an Interdictor Cruiser is located on the hyperspace vector of another ship, that craft will be pulled out of lightspeed and brought back to real space. Although the function of the cruiser is not to attack any enemy craft, 20 quad laser cannons are placed on the vessel. But these are used only for defending the cruiser against enemy attack, not to fight in a battle. The only ways to escape an Interdictor Cruiser is to jump to hyperspace before the cruiser is able to start up his projectors. Also, you can try to fly out of range of the gravity well projectors. There are more manners to set up an interdiction field. The New Republic used CC-770 Frigate's to prevent enemy ships from escaping into hyperspace. And Han Solo's cousin, Thrackan Sal-Solo, set up an interdiction field that surrounded the whole Corellian sector. For that impossible task he used gigantic millennia-old repulsors.

Galleon

Full name: Galleon
Size: +/- 300 meters long
Speed: unknown
Hyperdrive: class unknown
Weapons: none
Shields: deflector shields / hull

The Galleon was originally designed in the days of the Old Republic. It was used for transporting all sorts of cargo throughout the galaxy. It carried no weapons, so in dangerous territories it always had to be protected by a larger starship or a starfighter squadron. Later, it was replaced by other cargo ship as the Bulk and Medium Transport. The Empire produced its own Galleon, the Star Galleon, to transport supplies. The Star Galleon is armed with several laser cannons and its shields are twice the strength of the original Galleon. This eliminates the the need of starfighters for escort. The Star Galleon was 300 meters long and its designers tried to combine the cargo capacity of a Bulk Freighter with the armament of a combat ship. The Empire used the ship for transporting anything through well-defended sectors. The original Galleon was also used in smaller numbers by the Empire. They used the old ship mainly as a troop transport.

Escort Carrier

Full name: Alliance / Imperial Escort Carrier
Size: 350 meters long
Speed: unknown
Hyperdrive: class unknown
Weapons: several laser cannons
Shields: deflector shields / hull

The Escort Carrier was built during the Galactic Civil War by both the Empire and the Alliance. The used the ships for carrying as much starfighters and troops as great warships, such as the Star Destroyer and the Mon Calamari Cruiser. The ships were well-armed with several laser cannons, but they were escorted in a battle by the starfighters they carried. The Empire and the Alliance built other models of the Escort Carrier. The Imperial one has weak shields but is heavier armed than its Rebel component. The Alliance Escort Carrier is more streamlined and is better maneuverable. Both the ships are +/- 350 meters long, and they are attached to a fleet to carry the fighters into hyperspace and to form a platform and a homebase for them. A standard Escort Carrier can convey 30 starfighters and an unknown number of shuttles and landing crafts. It has repair and maintenance facilities on board to repair damaged ships. The Escort Carrier Flurry fought in the battle of Bakura, but it was the flagship of the small fleet and it was heavier armed than standard Carriers. The Flurry was a so-called cruiser-carrier and served many years under captain Tessa Manchisco. Unfortunately, the ship was destroyed when the Imperial cruiser Dominant opened fire. All men died, but their sacrifice is remembered.
